HC Deb 02 July 1908 vol 191 cc943-4
MR. REES

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the resolution passed by the court of governors of the University College of North Wales, Aberystwyth, to the effect that the Government grants at present given to the Welsh University colleges are totally inadequate, and urging the Government, in view of the lack of educational endowments in Wales, the poverty of students attending, and the advanced work done in the colleges, to increase the grants to the three colleges at the earliest opportunity.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) The question of grants to the Welsh University colleges is under consideration by a Committee appointed for the purpose, and I am unable to make any statement on the subject at present.
