HC Deb 02 July 1908 vol 191 cc949-50
MR. REES

I beg to ask the Undersecretary of State for India whether It is proposed by the Government of India to make any allotments of funds for the improvement of communications with Tibet in order to the development of the trade of that country with India.

MR. BUCHANAN

No proposals have been submitted to the Secretary of State by the Government of India for improving the roads from India into Tibet.

MR. REES

If this is not done, what advantage will the Government receive from the late expedition?

MR. BUCHANAN

That raises a very wide question, and it is impossible for me to give an answer.
