HC Deb 02 July 1908 vol 191 c968
MR. W. THORNE (West Ham, S.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General if he is aware that the contractor, Mr. Blake, of Plymouth, who is building a new wing to the post office in Small Street, Bristol, is not paying the recognised trade union rates of wages for overtime, and if he intends taking any action in the matter.

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. L. HARCOURT,) Lancashire, Rossendale

It appears that a small amount of overtime has been worked under a misunderstanding at less than the standard rates for such work. I am taking steps to secure that the standard rates shall be paid during the continuance of the contract.
