HC Deb 27 February 1908 vol 185 c52
MR. T. F. RICHARDS (Wolverhampton, W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board, whether he is aware that 30 per cent, of the members of the Operative Stone Masons Society are unemployed in London alone; and whether he can hold out any hope that the Government will facilitate the passage of the Unemployed Workmen Bill down for Second Reading on 13th March.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. JOHN BURNS,) Battersea

The society referred, to does not furnish the Board of Trade with figures as to the extent of unemployment amongst its members, and I am not in possession of particulars on the subject. As regards the latter part of the Question, I do not think I can say anything in anticipation of the debate which will take place on the Second Reading of the Bill.
