§ MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether his attention has been called to the continued fishing by steam trawlers within the legal limits off the coast of Ballinskelligs, county Kerry, in spite of the prosecutions which have been undertaken by the Department; and whether, in view of the damage thereby caused to the local fishermen, and to the submarine cable of the cable companies whose offices are in that district, he will take prompt steps to prohibit trawling in these waters.
§ MR. T. W. RUSSELLThe Department have not received this year any such report although they have a paid officer in the locality to report any illegal trawling that may be observed. The Department's cruiser was in the vicinity several times in the present month and did not observe any illegal trawling.
