MR. C. MACVEIGHI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the number of evicted tenants that have been reinstated by their landlords in County Donegal, and if he can state how many were reinstated as future tenants and debarred from entering the Land Court to have a fair rent fixed under the Land Act of 1881; and if he will in his promised legislation provide a means by which these future tenants can enter the Court and have a fair rent fixed by the Land Commission for their holdings.
§ MR. CHERRYThe Estates Commissioners inform me that, so far as they can ascertain, fifty-eight evicted tenants have been reinstated in their former holdings in County Donegal by the landlords, but the Commissioners cannot say how many of these are future tenants. As regards possible legislation in respect of future tenants I would refer to the reply given by my right hon. friend to the similar Question of the hon. Member for West Donegal on 12th instant.
