HC Deb 24 February 1908 vol 184 c1326
Mr. B. S. STRAUS (Tower Hamlets, Mile End)

To ask the Secretary of State for War, whether he is aware that writers in the Army Clothing Department are doing work formerly performed by civil servants, but that they (the writers), are not entitled to a pension as their predecessors were; and will he consider their case for pension rights.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) Certain of the Second Division clerks in the Army Clothing Department have been replaced by foreman writers. Foreman writers are entitled to pensions. No Civil Service clerks have been replaced by writers.
