BARNESTo ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether the eleven appointments of engine-room artificers, reported to the House in June last as being vacant out of 248 allowed to certain ships and establishments, have been filled up; and what others of the total number are now vacant, and is it proposed to fill them with mechanicians.
(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robertson.) The Answer to the first Question is in the affirmative. There are four vacancies for engine-room artificers in the submarine 1319 service, but volunteers to fill these vacancies have already been selected and will join on 1st March. The Answer to the third Question is in the negative.
