HC Deb 24 February 1908 vol 184 c1327
MR. HAVELOCK WILSON (Middlesborough)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether his Department has received a copy of a letter from one of the crew of the Glasgow steamer "Kilmorack"; whether he is aware that the firemen allege that the vessel is undermanned in consequence of there being too many fires to attend to for the number of men employed; whether he is aware that the men allege that the master has failed to provide them with the necessary provisions as contained in the provision scale of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1906; whether he is aware that the men allege that the boilers of the "Kilmorack" are defective and that there has been some tampering with the steam guage; and whether he will cause inquiries to be made into these allegations at once, as the vessel is due to arrive at Ardrossan on or about the 22nd or 23rd of this month.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) I have no information in the case referred to in the Question, but inquiries are being made, and the result shall be communicated to my hon. friend as soon as possible.
