HC Deb 20 February 1908 vol 184 cc998-1002
MR. ERSKINE (Perthshire, W.)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he can state the values of imports and exports of the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the German Empire, and France, for each of the years 1902 to 1906, inclusive, distinguishing separately the imports and exports of food, raw materials, and manufactures.

(Answered by Mr. Kearley.) The following statements, which have been compiled from the official Trade Returns of the countries referred to, give the information desired by my hon. friend. I have to point out, however, that material differences exist in the methods of classification of imports and exports adopted by the respective countries, and that the results for particular categories are therefore not absolutely comparable.
