HC Deb 20 February 1908 vol 184 cc997-8
MR. T. F. RICHARDS (Wolverhampton, W.)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the case of a solicitor who, as a member of the Bognor Urban District Council, sat and voted on the council when a scheme in which he was professionally interested was being considered; and, if so, what action he has taken, or will take, in the matter.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) I have received a letter on this subject, but the matter is not one with respect to which I have any jurisdiction. I do not express any opinion as to the present case; but I may say that where a councillor has become disqualified the disqualification takes effect without any action on my part.
