To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many persons under 16 but over 14 were sentenced in 1906, either at quarter sessions or at assizes, to imprisonment for any period exceeding six months for offences, exclusive of homicide, not specified in the first column of the First Schedule to The Summary Jurisdiction Act, 1979; and how many youthful offenders over 14, detained in reformatory schools, were convicted and imprisoned in 1906, by courts of summary jurisdiction, either for escaping from the schools or for refusing to conform to the rules.
