HC Deb 18 February 1908 vol 184 c621
SIR WALTER NUGENT (Westmeath, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether a portion of the farm known as Clonrellick, formerly held by Mary J. Little, near Moate, county Westmeath, but now sold to the Estates Commissioners, has been sold to a man who already holds 200 acres of land in the neighbourhood; and, if so, whether in view of the provisions of the Act which was passed for the relief of congestion in Ireland, he will say what action he proposes to take.

(Answered by Mr. Cherry.) The Estates Commissioners inform me that the lands referred to in the Question have not been sold to them, but are included in an estate which the owners have agreed to sell direct to the tenants, and in respect of which advances have been applied for. When the estate comes to be dealt with by the Commissioners in order of priority they will carefully consider the nature of the tenancies and the advances applied for.
