HC Deb 14 February 1908 vol 184 c297
LORD BALCARRES (Lancashire, Chorley)

To ask the Postmaster-General if he will take steps to enlarge the structure of the central post office at Chorley, Lancashire, in order to remove the inconvenience caused by the frequent overcrowding arising from insufficient floor space.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) I am assured that the accommodation for the public at the Chorley post office is sufficient for ordinary requirements; but the exceptional demand for postal orders in connection with the "Limerick craze" has led to the public office being overcrowded in the evenings. Special steps have been taken to cope with this demand, which is not likely to be permanent.
