HC Deb 14 February 1908 vol 184 c295
MAJOR ANSTRUTHER-GRAY (St. Andrews Burghs)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether, having in view the increase of motor traffic and the consequent decrease of horses suitable as a reserve in case of war, he will consider the urgency of giving more encouragement to horse breeding in Great Britain and Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The whole question of improving the breed of horses suitable for military purposes is at present receiving the earnest attention of the Board of Agriculture and the Army Council, and I hope that the concerted energies of the two Departments will lead to some satisfactory issue.
