MR. HERBERTI beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether Lammas lands can be taken compulsorily for small holdings; and, if so, whether, as a matter of policy, the Board of Agriculture would be prepared to put the powers of the Act in force for the purpose of taking such lands.
§ SIR EDWARD STRACHEYLammas land can be acquired compulsorily under the Small Holdings Acts with the consent of the Board, but each case would have to be considered on its merits with due regard to the various interests concerned.
