To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Local Government Board have received a copy of a resolution recently passed by the Lismore Board of Guardians with reference to the appointment of inspectors under the Seed Supply Act; whether the suggestion in the resolution that only persons nominated by the county committees of agriculture be eligible will be adopted; and whether he is aware that serious complaints have been made as to the unsuitability of persons appointed on former occasions.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Local Government Board have received a copy of the resolution referred to, but do not intend to adopt the suggestion contained therein. No complaints of the nature referred to in the concluding part of the Question have reached the Board.
