HC Deb 03 February 1908 vol 183 cc501-2
MR. ROWLANDS (Kent, Dartford)

To ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether any of the counties of England are affected by the American gooseberry mildew; and, if so, will the Board issue a Return showing the counties affected, together with the acreage of gooseberry plantation, and also the acreage which is affected by the disease.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) The counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire (Parts of Holland), Norfolk, the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, and Huntingdonshire are at present affected with American gooseberry mildew. We will endeavour to obtain and brig together the information for which my hon., friend asks in the latter part of his Question, and perhaps he will communicate with me on the subject.
