CARLILEI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will ascertain the number of Civil servants of British birth in the Transvaal and Orange River Colonies who, while being retained in the employment of the Colonial Governments, have had their status, rank, and salaries reduced since the grant of self-government to these Colonies.
§ COLONEL SEELYNo, Sir. The Secretary of State is not prepared further to trouble the Colonial Governments, who have already been good enough to supply a large quantity of information.
