BELLOC (Salford, S.)referring to Standing Order 18, asked Mr. Speaker if he was right in supposing there was no machinery provided for the return of a Member to the House after his suspension under subsection (2). Formerly, before 1877 February, 1902, the suspension was for a certain length of time.
§ * MR. SPEAKERThe hon. Member is quite correct. Until the Rule is altered or rather completed, no period is fixed for the time of suspension, but there has been one case or more of a Motion being made for the return of a Member after the lapse of a certain time, and that course might be followed.
§ MR. BELLOCsaid he supposed it would be too late now, but he would take the earliest opportunity to move for the readmission of the hon. Member for the Colne Valley division.
