HC Deb 15 December 1908 vol 198 c1547
MR. SHACKLETON (Lancashire, Clitheroe)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the Government of India have decided to take any action as a result of the recommendations of the Royal Commission appointed to inquire into the hours of labour and other conditions of factory life in India; and will the recommendations of Sir Hamilton Freer-Smith's Committee, on the same subject, be also taken into consideration by the Government of India.

(Answered by Mr. Buchanan.) The Government of India are awaiting the opinions of the local governments, to whom the Report of the Commission has been referred, before deciding as to the action to be taken on the recommendations contained therein. The recommendations of Sir Hamilton Freer-Smith's Committee will undoubtedly be considered in connection with the Commission's Report.
