§ MR. FELLI beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any official information showing that a cargo of ivory of the value of £7,000 has been shipped from the Lado Enclave down the Nile through the Soudan; and, if so, will he consider the possibility of placing an embargo on further shipments, which appear to be in direct contravention of the intenational game convention.
§ MR. MCKINNON WOODWe have received no official information confirming the report mentioned. His Majesty's Agent and Consul-General at Cairo has been instructed to recommend the Soudanese authorities to take any steps that may be within their power to prevent the destruction of elephants in the Lado Enclave, if the reports to that effect which have appeared in the public Press can be verified.
