HC Deb 03 December 1908 vol 197 c1680
MR. LAURENCE HARDY

I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, how many counties have appointed inspectors, and in what numbers, under the Insects and Pests Act; and whether, in all cases of such appointments, efficient expert inspectors have been selected.

MR. FULLER

According to the information of the Board one expert inspector has been appointed by each of the following local authorities:—Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Norfolk, the Isle of Ely, Huntingdonshire, Cambridgeshire, and two by the Kent County Council. In Essex no expert inspector has, so far as the Board are aware, been appointed, but police officers have been appointed to carry out the work.

MR. LAURENCE HARDY

Who looks after the inspection in the counties of Surrey and Sussex?

MR. FULLER

I will inquire.
