I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can give the number of men employed in the dockyards and victualling yards, casually and permanently, during the last weeks in November, 1898, and the last week in 1908; and whether all the permanent men are entitled to pensions as a condition of their employment.


The number of men employed in the Home Dockyards at the end of November, 1898 and 1908, were as follows:—
