HC Deb 01 December 1908 vol 197 cc1260-1
MR. MILDMAY (Devonshire, Totnes)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether, under Clause 2 of the Elementary Education Bill, it is intended to provide for the right of entry in single-room schools in the country districts.

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Mr. TREVELYAN,) Yorkshire, W.R., Elland

Yes, Sir, if it is administratively practicable. I do not think it is possible to lay down a hard and fast rule, applicable to all single-room schools; but large numbers of these schools are already provided with partitions, screens or other means of separating classes, or are otherwise suitable for the conduct of two or more classes.

MR. ASHLEY

How is the right of entry to be effected in such cases?

MR. TREVELYAN

asked for notice.
