HC Deb 02 April 1908 vol 187 c676
MR. FELL

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, what are the hours worked and the wages paid in the Cornish and Aberdeen granite quarries which have failed to compete with the Norwegian quarries in the supply of granite for the Government dockyards.

MR. KEARLEY

The summer hours of labour at Aberdeen granite quarries are 56 and 57 per week, and the average weekly earnings of quarriers for a full week about 25s. 6d. As regards Cornwall the information is not yet available.
