HC Deb 01 April 1908 vol 187 c519
MR. O'SHEE

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the losses incurred in the flotation of Land Stock and in the payment of a bonus of 12 per cent. to Irish landlords who agree to sell, he will consider the advisability of meeting a portion of the same by imposing a tax of 12 per cent. on incomes derived from the tenanted and untenanted lands of landlords who decline to sell.

MR. ASQUITH

I do not think the suggestion is a practicable one.
