§ MR. THORNEI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade what is the number of workpeople who had their wages increased and reduced for the year 1906; and what was the computed amount of changes of weekly wages recorded.
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE, Carnarvon Boroughs)About 1,100,000 workpeople were reported to the Board of Trade as being affected by changes in rates of wages in 1906, viz., 1,083,000 by increases and 17,000 by reductions. The net result of all the changes was a rise in the weekly wages of these workpeople of about £60,000.
