HC Deb 27 May 1907 vol 174 c1318
MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney and Shetland)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if a Return of the accidents caused by motors in the Metropolitan area has been furnished by the police; and if he can state the number during the last six months.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE,) Leeds, W.

The number of accidents in the Metropolis known to the Police to have been caused in the streets by motor cars, motor cycles and motor omnibuses during the six months ended the 30th April last is 4,451. Of these accidents personal injury resulted in 1,175 cases, and fatal injury in forty-one cases.

MR. STANLEY WILSON (Yorkshire, E. R. Holderness)

Can the right hon. Gentleman give a similar Return as to accidents caused by vehicles drawn by horses?

MR. GLADSTONE

I have already done that, and if the hon. Member wishes the figures can be brought up to date.
