HC Deb 27 May 1907 vol 174 c1323
MR. FELL

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the quantity of butter imported into this country from Denmark which is not produced in that country, but imported there from Siberia; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter with a view to preventing the contravention of the Merchandise Marks Act.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

A small quantity of butter is consigned to this country from Russia via Danish ports. I am informed that a certain quantity of Siberian butter is also consigned from Denmark by Danish merchants, but I have no information as to the quantity which reaches the country in this way. If any evidence can be furnished that any such butter is imported here as Danish I shall be ready to give it consideration.
