HC Deb 16 May 1907 vol 174 c1101
MR. PATRICK WHITE (Meath, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury what was the administrative cost of the Local Government Board in England for the years 1903, 1904, 1905, and 1906 respectively; and what amount was paid to it in each year for the relief of local taxation.

MR. JOHN BURNS

Perhaps I may answer this Question. The administrative cost of the Department for the years referred to varied from, in round numbers, £218,000 to £227,000, and the amounts paid to the Board for the relief of local taxation in each of these years was upwards of £8,000,000. I will send the hon. Member a statement giving the particulars for each year.
