§ MR. PATRICK WHITE (Meath, N.)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury what was the administrative cost of the Local Government Board in England for the years 1903, 1904, 1905, and 1906 respectively; and what amount was paid to it in each year for the relief of local taxation.
§ MR. JOHN BURNSPerhaps I may answer this Question. The administrative cost of the Department for the years referred to varied from, in round numbers, £218,000 to £227,000, and the amounts paid to the Board for the relief of local taxation in each of these years was upwards of £8,000,000. I will send the hon. Member a statement giving the particulars for each year.
