HC Deb 15 May 1907 vol 174 c968
MR. LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received particulars of the shooting of a young man named John Murphy, who resides at Rinneen, in the Ruane district, county Clare; whether he is aware that he was fired at from behind a hedge and badly wounded; whether he is acquainted with the reasons which prompted this attack; and whether any person has been arrested in connection with this attack.

MR. BIRRELL

I have received police reports on this matter. It is the fact that Murphy was fired at from behind a fence and seriously wounded. I have no information as to the reasons which may have prompted the attack, but I am aware that Murphy holds part of a grazing farm. No arrests have yet been made. The police are still investigating the case.
