HC Deb 14 May 1907 vol 174 cc800-1
MR. WEDGWOOD (Newcastle-under-Lyme)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the proposed legislation in New South Wales involving the paying for town improvements by a rate on the unimproved land value instead of on industry; and whether he will try to obtain and lay upon the Table of this House a Report from the Premier of New South Wales on the aims and scope of this proposed legislation, as well as on the Shires Act that was passed in 1905.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

So far as I am aware no new legislation is proposed. If my hon. friend desires it I will present to Parliament the Shires Act, 1905, and the Local Government Extension Act, 1906.
