HC Deb 08 May 1907 vol 174 c240
MR. DELANY

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in addition to securing for his brother the chairmanship of the Irish Board of Works, and exceptionally rapid advancement for his personal clerks, Sir Robert Holmes has been instrumental in securing appointments in the Irish Civil Service for the following relatives of personal friends, Sir David Harrel, two sons, and Sir Patrick Coll, two sons and a son-in-law; and whether he will take steps to prevent such appointments being made in the future.

MR. RUNCIMAN

I must refer the hon. Member to my Answer of the 23rd ultimo.†

MR. T. L. CORBETT (Down, N.)

Has not the Irish Lord Chancellor recently appointed his brother-in-law to a very high office?

*MR. SPEAKER

That does not arise out of the Question.
