HC Deb 08 May 1907 vol 174 c208
MR. COURTHOPE (Sussex, Rye)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is the intention of the War Office that innkeepers should be required to provide billets for more men and horses than their promises can accommodate, being thereby compelled to procure accommodation on other premises at a financial loss to themselves; and whether he will issue instructions that in future no person shall be required to provide greater accommodation than his premises afford.

MR. HALDANE

The allocation of the numbers of horses and men to billets does not rest with the military authorities, but with the local police authorities.
