HC Deb 06 May 1907 vol 173 cc1312-3
MR. EDWARD BARRY (Cork County, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether an inspector from the Department of Agriculture visited Barytes mines at Muckross, Clonakilty, some months ago; whether he made a full inspection and Report; and, if so, whether a copy of that Report is available.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Economic Geologist of the Department of Agriculture has made an inspection of the Barytes mine referred to, and has furnished a Report on the subject to the Department. The inspection was undertaken in pursuance of the Department's policy of acquiring information as to the raw material resources of the country. The mine is understood to be the property of a company, and it is not considered desirable to publish Reports on private undertakings of the kind.
