HC Deb 02 May 1907 vol 173 cc1075-6
THE MARQUESS OF HAMILTON (Londonderry)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution of the Clonfert branch of the United Irish League, passed on Sunday, 21st April, giving notice to all graziers to surrender their grass farms, and threatening to publish the names of the graziers in order to focus public opinion on their action; and will he say what steps he has taken to protect the graziers of Galway in their lawful avocations.

MR. BIRRELL

I am informed that a resolution to the effect stated was published in a local newspaper. The police have taken, and will continue to take, all necessary steps for the preservation of the peace, and for the protection of all persons in the exercise of their legal rights.
