§ MAJOR SEELY (Liverpool, Abercromby)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that only some 6 per cent. of soldiers discharged from the Army last year suffering from tubercle of the lung were sent to hospitals or sanitoria, while more than 70 per cent. were sent direct to their homes, he can take steps to ensure that a larger proportion shall in future be sent to institutions where they can receive proper treatment.
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. Haldane, Haddington)The disposal of soldiers invalided with tubercle of the lung is a matter involving several difficult considerations, and I propose to institute a small Committee to advise as to what steps it may be practicable to take in the direction indicated by the Question. I hope my hon. and gallant friend will give his services to this Committee.
