§ MR. O'GRADYI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, in what manner the case of the clerks to the surveyors of taxes is being dealt with; whether the finding of the Department will be laid upon the Table of the House; and, if so, when will this be done.
§ MR. RUNCIMANI understand that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, on whose behalf I replied to a question on this subject asked by the hon. Member on the 7th instant, is considering whether any improvements can be effected in the organisation of surveyors' offices. His inquiries are at present of an informal nature and are with a view to ascertaining whether a prima facie case is made out against the present arrangements. He is not in a position to lay any Papers.
