HC Deb 18 March 1907 vol 171 c454
MR. LEA (St. Pancras, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the regimental orders of the Royal Garrison Artillery, 1st Scottish Sub-District, on 1st March, which required officers commanding companies to report not later than 5th March that all trouser pockets of non-commissioned officers andmen under their command had been sewn up or removed, and that neglect of this order would entail a regimental entry in the conduct sheet of any non-commissioned officer or man concerned, and, if so, whether he can see his way to cancel it at once, in view of the feeling it has engendered amongst the men concerned, and the effect it will have on the recruiting for this corps.

MR. HALDANE

The facts as stated in the Question are substantially correct. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Scottish Command, has issued instructions to cancel the order in question.
