§ MR. COURTHOPE (Sussex, Rye)On behalf of the hon. Member for the Ealing Division of Middlesex, I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, if His Majesty's Government sanctioned the contract under which labourers from Trinidad have been recruited to work on the Panama Canal, to which contract the Colonial Government assented at the end of October or beginning of November last.
§ MR. CHURCHILLThe contract has not been submitted to His Majesty's Government. It was sanctioned by the Governor of Trinidad in the exercise of own discretion.
