§ MR. O'GRADY (Leeds, E.)To ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been called to the speech of Sir Andrew Fraser before the Asiatic Society of Bengal, in. which he stated that at the present moment the Anglo-Indian officials know considerably less of the people than the officials of old, and whether, in view of this statement, it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to bring forward legislation in the near future to give the peoples of India a greater share in the Government of India according to Indian ideas.
§ (Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) I have seen a report of Sir Andrew Fraser's speech, but I am not on that account prepared to make any announcement of the kind suggested in the Question.
