§ MR. O'DOHERTY (Donegal, N.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if any steps have been taken to carry out the repeated promises of having a breakwater constructed at New Bridge, Rathmullan, county Donegal; and whether he is aware of the necessity for such a work.
§ MR. BIRRELLIt is, I understand, desirable that some improvements should be effected at New Bridge. My predecessor had the matter under consideration but decided that it must be deferred for the present, in view of the stronger claims of other localities. The hon. Member is mistaken in supposing that any promise in the matter has been given 59 by the Government. The amount available under the Marine Works Act is now small, and I can only say that the claims of New Bridge to have a grant will receive full consideration if funds should be available.
