§ VISCOUNT CASTLEREAGH (Maidstone)To ask the Secretary of State for War if he will specify the alterations which have been made during the present financial year as compared with the standard of 1905–6 in the salaries and emoluments of officers holding staff appointments.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane. )The chief alterations of importance are as follows: — (1) The reorganisation of the staff of artillery commands which has been approved, includes the appointment of a lieutenant-colonel of general staff (at Aldershot)at a special rate of pay of £050 a year, instead of £550, the normal pay of that appointment. (2) Sanction has been obtained for raising the pay of assistant directors of supplies and transport (substantive colonels) from £750 to £900 a year. (3) The pay and allowances of the staff of the School of Musketry and of the assistant director, Army Veterinary Service, have been consolidated.
