§ MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state for the last available period the number and value of each of the coins issued by the Mint for Maundy purposes, the total amount realised by the sale or distribution of these coins, the net loss in connection with the issue of this money, and whether such loss is met by payments out of the Consolidated Fund.
(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) The issues of Maundy coin in 1906 were:—
£ | s. | d. | |
8,602 fourpences | 143 | 7 | 4 |
8,482 threepences | 106 | 0 | 6 |
9,376 twopences | 78 | 2 | 8 |
10,926 pence | 45 | 10 | 6 |
Total | 373 | 1 | 0 |
§ There is no loss on the issue of Maundy money, as payment of this coin is made to the Mint, and the profit resulting is in 1126 the same ratio as that on the other silver coinage.
