HC Deb 24 June 1907 vol 176 c856
MR. T. F. RICHARDS (Wolverhampton, W.)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether the Central Unemployed Body asked for a grant of £2,500 last March to carry on the women's workrooms; if so, what amount was granted them; and what information, if any, was contained in the Local Government Board's letter of 28th March.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns) The Answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. The £2,500 asked for was in addition to a sum of £2,000 which had already been granted for the purpose referred to. I stated in the letter of 28th March that I was not prepared to direct a grant to be paid in aid of the cost of carrying on the workrooms throughout the summer, and that the grant on this head would accordingly be limited to a sum of £500. This was, done.
