§ MR. D. A. THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been called to the proceedings at the last monthly meeting of the Flintshire Education Committee, during which it was authoritatively stated that, of the increase in the education rate for the current year, a large proportion, amounting to over £3,000, was due to the cost of maintenance of voluntary or non-provided schools; and if he will inquire into the cause of the increased expenditure.
§ MR. McKENNAThe Answer to the first paragraph is in the negative. In reply to the second paragraph, any inquiry into the legality of expenditure by a local education authority is a matter for the district auditor.
