§ MR. BELLAIRSI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury the total sum paid in lieu of rates for one year in respect of the five dockyards of Chatham, Sheerness, Portsmouth, Devonport, including extensions, and Pembroke.
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. RUNCIMAN, Dewsbury)The total amount of the contributions in lieu of rates in respect of the five dockyards during the year ended 31st March last was £58,028. This sum does not include any payment on account of the new extension at Devonport, as the valuation basis was not agreed upon with the local authorities until after the dose of the year.
