HC Deb 20 June 1907 vol 176 c598
MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for India if he will say what steps are being taken to secure the education of children on tea gardens in the United Provinces.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) The area of tea gardens in the United Provinces, according to the last Returns, is only 7,934 acres. I am not aware that any special steps are taken to secure the education of children on these gardens. The ordinary primary schools of the country are open to them, as to other children in rural areas.
