HC Deb 20 June 1907 vol 176 cc591-2
SIR HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)

To ask Mr. Attorney-General, what steps are being taken to bring The Public Trustee Act, 1906, into operation on 1st January, 1908; and if an estimate will be submitted to Parliament of the amount sufficient to ensure that the Act shall, in the public interest, have a fair trial over an adequate number of years.

(Answered by Sir John Walton.) I am informed by the Lord Chancellor that a Committee was appointed early in the year to consider and advise as to the constitution of the office of public trustee, and as to the rules for carrying the Act into effect. Their labours are nearly completed, and there is no doubt that everything will be ready in good time before the Act comes into operation.
